May You Never — A Haiku
A poem about the suffering I pray you’ll never know
may you never see
your loved one gasping for air
last breath, we held hands

This poem was inspired by the story “May You Never Know the Pain I’ve Witnessed as a Covid Nurse.” It started out as a viral Facebook post. I was watching tragedies unfold in real-time at the hospital. But I didn’t want to post every awful thing I saw or my voice would be watered down and not make an impact. At some point, I could no longer stay silent and all I knew came rushing out as a ‘dire’ blessing. Read the full story here:
